Introduction

Humans tend to get distracted very easily. Especially during bad times we start losing faith in ourselves and start blaming our fate, destiny, luck- whatever you may term it, for all that are happening. Instead of trying to make things better by working hard for it, we tend to grow more superstitious and start believing in all kinds of things that catch our attention. In short, we become irrational and encourage impractical ideas to guide us as it helps us to justify everything that is taking place, keeping our conscience satisfied. People indulge in astrology and such superstitions, but have you ever put a thought that how is your destiny supposed to help you, or even make things better when you have given up on yourself? That is a very wrong way to approach the problem, isn’t it? So, now raises the question that what is the correct way? Well, when bad times fall upon you, you will find hundreds and thousands of your so called ‘well wishers’ crop up suddenly. People who hardly know you or even talk to you are ready to give you suggestions and act concerned. The correct thing to do will be to shut them out. Yes, you read it right. Remember, god did not give us a bone in our tongue which would make it pain if we overuse it and speaking is tax-less, people will say all they want to, nothing will happen to them, but you are surely going to get more confused and depressed. You would not get a clear solution and your mind will be further clouded making you feel helpless and more trapped. So, the best thing to do would be to share your problem only with your closed ones and think about what they have to say and act accordingly. Remember, 80% of the people are happy when you are in trouble, 28% hardly care, but the 2% left are the only people genuinely care and are concerned. Never let them go as you will find that they are the ones your strength lies in.

Keep your thoughts wide

Another thing that is to be done is to keep your mental horizons open, think about all the different possibilities from all the aspect and act accordingly. Do not blindly follow or depend on any one person.

Believe in yourself and have patience. Napoleon Hill had very accurately said, “Patience, persistence and perspiration make an unbeatable combination for success.” Another important thing is not to lose your confidence. Confidence can work wonders- all in your favor. Never forget, immaculate execution matters. If you execute with confidence, no one can defy you. Remember that quirky quote? “If you cannot convince them, confuse them”, and you can do this only if you are confident!

If you feel demotivated at any point of time, resort to reading. You would not believe how a good piece of writing could boost your mood and motivate you. It is very natural to feel restless when nothing falls in places, in such a case, you can also try to meditate. Meditation calms the mind and gives rise to positivity. Another way of keeping yourself in a good mood is listening to good music, watching inspirational movies and spending quality time with your loved ones.

Have an optimistic attitude

Develop a positive attitude to life and be focused. Never blame yourself or your destiny. Yes, luck plays a role in whatever happens in your life but do not let it overpower your hard work and actions. Never forget the role of luck is negligible to your hard work. Be focused to your goal like a horse. Do not think about anything else or see what others are doing. Do not compare yourself with others, instead, be your own competition. See where you were yesterday and see where you are today and you are sure to reach to the zenith of success!

Herodotus had rightly said, “the destiny of a man is in his own soul” and an example to this quote can also be found in literature. William Shakespeare’s famous play “Macbeth” serves as the perfect example to this quote. Macbeth shaped his own destiny and turned to become a demonic villain from a valiant hero. If Macbeth had not been greedy and ruled by his over ambition, then maybe he would not have been known as the “tragic hero”. Shakespeare had very beautifully shown the meaning of this quote by Herodotus in his play.

Everyone is responsible for the kind of life they lead, their actions and karma account for all that happens. Blaming your destiny is like blaming your teacher for not giving you an extension for the assignment that you were due the other day. But the fault is actually yours for not completing on time and not the teacher’s. Similarly, blaming your destiny for things that go wrong or do not work according to your plan is wrong. First assess yourself, and you will know who is to be blamed.

Conclusion

Therefore, we can easily conclude that the destiny of a person is not written in advance by God. The person writes it all by himself with the course of action they choose. Imagine it yourself, your ‘destiny’ says you are to top your examinations. Now you are left with two choices, to study, work hard and achieve it or simply leave it on your destiny. If you work hard enough then you are ought to come out with flying colors, but if you leave it to your destiny, then there is no way you will ever pass, let alone top. So, always remember, your destiny lies in your soul and you are the master of it.
