Best ways to handle superstitious people?

Superstitious people are those who resort to all forms of practices that will help them to ward of bad luck. These practices could be avoiding black cats, knocking on wood, not walking under a ladder etc. While most of us know that the luck that you experience is determined by your actions alone, there are some people who follow all these practices religiously. If you know someone one who is like this and are at your wits end about their superstitious people, here are some way to handle them:

Visiting a Psychotherapist:

People who are very particular about the superstitions that they believe in and do all that they can to avoid them. Such people suffer from phobias and a fear that is stuck in their minds. You could offer to take them to a therapist who will be able to overcome their fears; this is usually the last resort for those people who are so superstitious that they cannot lead normal lives. The therapist will try to uncover the reasons why they choose to follow the superstitions.

Just Deal with It:

Some superstitious people may not have a very serious problem, but practice their beliefs anyway. They are also not open to the fast that the beliefs have no rational reasons behind them, it is better just to let these people be as they are and hope that one day they will understand things as they are. In all honesty if their actions do not interfere with the way that you live your life, why should you even begin to care about what they do? If a person does perform some rituals that interfere with you work or life, simply approach them in friendly manner and explain why their actions bother you.

Understanding their Minds:

People use their experiences to develop their thinking and this is the main reason behind why they practice superstitious beliefs. Foe example, if they broke a mirror and the rest of the day turned out to be a string of bad events; they may associate the broken mirror to their fate. They also use superstitious beliefs to escape their fear, when you understand these reasons, then you will also develop a clear understanding of how to deal with them.

Some superstitions are right:

Some of the things that superstitious people do can be justified. For example, walking under a ladder is a bad thing, one rational explanation behind this is because the ladder may be placed there for repair work and you could risk injury if the person on the ladder were to accidentally drop their tools. The shards from a broken mirror could injure you. These things are usually taught to kids who would understand the concept of danger.
