They are of course important elements towards career building but sometimes people get stuck in a time warp and embroiled in the rigmarole of seeking to translate these two things into success.
However, success eludes them. This thing in itself is an indication of malice and needs remedial measures from us. Here let us discuss a few behavioral patterns that might lead you to remain stuck in your job-
- Return to the old way of doing the same thing
We do not learn from the old mistakes and return to the same pattern of doing things that had led us to failure in the vain hope that things will better this time. This is like moving about in a circle, coming back to the point from where we started.
- Self sympathizing
Of all those among us who self sympathize for the time and hard work, they have been putting in their job, are less likely to achieve success. Self-pity drains us of vitality and draws us to cushion ourselves from working hard.
- Drain out you energy working
It is good to work hard but do not let yourself to the point of exhaustion. A bout of expending the reserves of energies might be okay occasionally. This in fact ups your energy level but bringing it in routine will make you exhausted, anxious, less attentive and irritable at work.
- Not sharing responsibilities with others
You cannot do all the work yourself. You must learn to share your workload with others. In fact, your leadership qualities are exhibited in you discharging assignments to the others and seeing to it that they do them with perfection.
- Not sharing rewards with others
At the end of the work, many among us seek to keep all the prizes to themselves. Even if they do share the rewards, they render the contribution of the others nugatory. Such an attitude will not only lead to distancing of the people from you, but also make you more venerable towards becoming narcissist.
- Remain happy in the old order
Things must change with time. A change might even be disadvantageous to our own comfort level and it might even antagonizes many propel around. Your business demands may entail you to move to a new location or city, lay off old employees and recruit new ones. However, if an opportunity presents itself before you, do not hesitate to grab it.
- Insecurity
No matter how good we are, or how much we have achieved, many of us live a life of insecurity. They constantly worry about the future and competition. Their desire to grow turns on in them negative traits of jealousy towards their competitors.
- Self doubt
Many among us are cast with self-doubt over our capability to do a task and achieve. Gauzing our personality and evaluating our limitations is fine. If self-doubt persists, it will eat into our vitality and snip off our confidence.
- Taking eyes off the big picture
When faced with failures, many of feel morally let down. They fail to appreciate that this is not the end of the game. Similarly, a few people regale in petty achievements and let the guard down. Both these tendencies are harmful for a person to succeed in his career.
- Evaluate and examine
There are points in career when you must evaluate your achievements and examine the causes of failures. Most of us do not do this and in fact regard this whole exercise of examining as waste of time. We might still be successful but we could have been far better if we had stopped over and pondered over ourselves for a while.
These career related mistakes you must always avoid in order to succeed. In the ultimate, it is your own confidence and attitude towards life that determines your success and failure. You are the master of your own destiny.
